Alright, who around here thinks it's time to hear from me?
No one? Eh, oh well...

Quote from "Growing it all from seed" in the Boston Globe:

There are seeds you can scatter on the snow now where you want them to grow, says Ken Druse, who gardens in frigid upstate New York. "They need moisture and cold to germinate and the snow gives them that. Of course, you don't want the snow to be too deep, or it will wash them away when it melts."

This doesn't work for every kind of seed, but Druse says it does for Johnny jump-ups, corn poppies, Flanders fields poppies, and opium poppies. Except that opium poppies are illegal.

"They are so beautiful and it's so stupid to ban them," Druse says, "It would take acres to produce any opium and you would need millions of old ladies with razors to process the stuff!"

Thank you, Boston Globe, for putting our hard earned money to good use...at least it was a good laugh...
